A Partially Flattened Basketball

That's what my arthritis, my osteoarthritis, looks like. My doc said, "Imagine a basketball sitting in one place for years and when you went to pick it up, the part of the ball sitting on the ground would be flattened, a kind of 3/4 round shape." That is what the ball of my femur looks like. In fact, so does the other one.

I don't know, they look good to me.

Ideally, the round ball fits into the round hole, or socket. Well the reality is the ball, probably formed since childhood, has worn away the cartlage in the socket.

"Since childhood?", says I. Interesting question that might naturally follow this discovery is, "would I be better off today had I taken it easy from my youth?"

There is no way I would have changed anything. Not one stitch of time. Not one experience. Not one step.

I am glad I found out now, and not earlier.
